Nikki is an Certified Professional Midwife and a CranioSacral therapist, currently in group practice at Community Midwifery Services.
Nikki’s passion for birth started early on. She has distinctive memories as an 8 year old of flipping through books and being fascinated with the stories and pictures depicting birth. Her journey as birth worker began as a teenager, when she was present for the home births of 2 of her siblings, in 1997 and 2000. She began training as a doula in 1999 and began attending births in 2000. Birth was put on hold for a time while she took an opportunity to live in Switzerland and explore European life. Nikki re-trained as a doula in 2007 and was DONA-certified in 2009. That same year that she joined the Community Midwifery team and began the OMA’s Midwife Assistant course. Upon completion, she was certified as a Midwife’s Assistant in 2011.
During 2011, Nikki also began her training in CranioSacral therapy (CST) and now specializes in CST for pregnant women and infants.
Nikki began midwifery training in 2012, utilizing the OMA’s Senior Midwife didactic course, while apprenticing at Community Midwifery Services. She became an OMA Senior Midwife in 2016 and achieved her CPM in the summer of 2017.
Nikki has attended over 300 births as a doula, midwife’s assistant, and primary midwife. She believes that pregnancy and birth are powerful times in a woman’s life, and the role of a midwife is to support a woman in finding her own inner strength as she creates and brings forth her child.
